Factory security shouldn't stand between you and your tune.
Modern Engine Control Units (ECUs) and Transmission Control Units (TCUs) can use advanced security and anti-tamper protections that restrict normal programming access.
On certain vehicles, simply connecting through the OBD-II port isn't enough to read or write a performance calibration. The ECU must first be unlocked to allow compatible tuning tools to communicate with and program the control unit.
ECU unlocking removes the programming restriction on a supported control unit. Once unlocked, the ECU can then be programmed with a compatible performance calibration.
